Black leather shoes, dirty (черные кожаные ботинки — грязные); suit of boating flannels, very dirty (фланелевый лодочный костюм — очень грязный); brown felt hat, much battered (коричневая фетровая шляпа — сильно потрепанная); mackintosh, very wet (непромокаемый плащ — очень мокрый); umbrella (зонтик).

We reached Paddington at seven, and drove direct to the restaurant I have before described (мы добрались до Паддингтона в семь и помчались прямо в ресторан, который я ранее описал; to drive — ехать, управлять /автомобилем и т. д./, править /лошадьми/; мчаться, нестись), where we partook of a light meal, left Montmorency (где съели легкие закуски, оставили Монморенси; to partake — принимать участие; отведать, съесть, выпить), together with suggestions for a supper to be ready at half-past ten (вместе с указаниями приготовить /нам/ ужин к половине одиннадцатого), and then continued our way to Leicester Square (затем продолжили путь = далее отправились на Лестер-Сквер /площадь в Уэст-Энде; на ней и вблизи нее расположено много кинотеатров, театров и ресторанов/).
