"And then," said the Gruagach, "he is the only man in the whole world I have ever told why I stopped laughing, and the only one who has ever seen my fleece of wool."

When the king of Erin heard (когда король Ирландии услышал) what the Gruagach said (что сказал Груагах), and saw the tongues of the giants (и увидел языки великанов) fitted into the heads (которые подходили к /их же/ головам; to fit — соответствовать, годиться; совпадать, точно подходить), he made the Shee an Gannon kneel down by his daughter (он заставил Эльфа Ганнона встать на колени рядом со своей дочерью; to make smb. do smth. — заставлять, побуждать, вынуждать кого-л. делать что-л.), and they were married on the spot (и они тут же стали мужем и женой; spot — место; on the spot — на месте; тотчас же).

When the king of Erin heard what the Gruagach said, and saw the tongues of the giants fitted into the heads, he made the Shee an Gannon kneel down by his daughter, and they were married on the spot.

Then the son of the king of Tisean was thrown into prison (затем сын короля Tisean [Зависти] был брошен в тюрьму; to throw /threw, thrown/), and the next day they put down a great fire (а на следующий день развели огромный костер: «разложили большой огонь»), and the deceiver was burned to ashes (и обманщик был сожжен дотла; to deceive — обманывать; deceiver — обманщик; ashes — пепел, зола; to burn to ashes — сжигать дотла).

The wedding lasted nine days (свадьба продолжалась девять дней; to last — длиться, продолжаться), and the last day was better than the first (и последний день был лучше, чем первый).

Then the son of the king of Tisean was thrown into prison, and the next day they put down a great fire, and the deceiver was burned to ashes.
