She came down at the door (она спешилась у двери; to come /came, come/— приходить, идти; down — вниз; to come down — сойти вниз), went in (вошла в /дом/), and found the henwife had dinner ready (и обнаружила, что птичница уже приготовила обед: «имела обед готовым»; to find /found/). She put off the white robes (она сняла белое одеяние; robe — мантия; одеяние, одежда; женское платье, особ. парадное), and had on her old dress in a twinkling (и в мгновение ока надела свое старое платье: «и была одета в ее старое платье в одно мгновение»; to have /had/ on — быть одетым /во что-л./; to twinkle — мерцать; мигать; twinkling — мерцание, мигание; мгновение, миг, момент).
She came down at the door, went in, and found the henwife had dinner ready. She put off the white robes, and had on her old dress in a twinkling.
When the two sisters came home (когда две сестры вернулись: «пришли» домой) the henwife asked (птичница спросила), "Have you any news today from the church (нет ли у вас сегодня каких-либо новостей из церкви)?"
"We have great news (у нас великолепная новость; great — большой, огромный; замечательный, великолепный)," said they (сказали они). "We saw a wonderful, grand lady at the church-door (мы видели поразительную знатную даму у двери церкви; grand — грандиозный, величественный; важный, знатный). The like of the robes she had (подобного одеяния, которое было на ней; like — чье-л. подобие, такой же человек; что-л. подобное или похожее) we have never seen on woman before (мы никогда не видели ни на /одной/ женщине прежде; to see /saw, seen/).
When the two sisters came home the henwife asked, "Have you any news today from the church?"
"We have great news," said they. "We saw a wonderful, grand lady at the church-door. The like of the robes she had we have never seen on woman before.
It's little that was thought of our dresses (о наших платьях и говорить нечего; to think /thought/ — думать, размышлять; иметь /какое-л./ мнение; little — мало; to think little of smth. — быть дурного мнения о чем-л.; ни во что не ставить) beside what she had on (по сравнению с тем, что было на ней; beside — рядом, около; по сравнению с); and there wasn't a man at the church (и не было ни одного мужчины в церкви), from the king to the beggar (от короля до нищего; to beg — просить, умолять; просить подаяния), but was trying to look at her (кто не пытался бы взглянуть на нее) and know who she was (и узнать, кто она такая: «кем она была»)."
It's little that was thought of our dresses beside what she had on; and there wasn't a man at the church, from the king to the beggar, but was trying to look at her and know who she was."
The sisters would give no peace (сестры /никому/ не дали бы покоя) till they had two dresses like the robes of the strange lady (пока они /не/ заимели = не получили два платья, подобные тому одеянию незнакомой дамы); but honey-birds and honey-fingers were not to be found (но медовых птиц и медовые соты: «медовые пальцы» невозможно было найти; to find /found/).
Next Sunday the two sisters went to church again (в следующее воскресенье две сестры снова пошли в церковь), and left the youngest at home to cook the dinner (и оставили /свою/ младшую /сестру/ дома готовить обед; to leave /left/).
The sisters would give no peace till they had two dresses like the robes of the strange lady; but honey-birds and honey-fingers were not to be found.

"I would go (я бы поехала)," said Trembling, "if I could get the going (если бы я могла получить /все необходимое для того, чтобы/ пойти; going — отъезд, уход)."
"What robe will you wear (какое платье ты желаешь надеть: «какое парадное платье ты будешь носить»)?" asked the hen-wife (спросила птичница).
"The finest black satin that can be found (/из/ наитончайшего черного атласа, который /только/ можно отыскать: «который может быть найден»; fine — утонченный, изящный; тонкий; to find /found/), and red shoes for my feet (и красные туфли на ногах: «мне на ноги»)."
After they had gone, the henwife came in and asked, "Will you go to church today?"
"I would go," said Trembling, "if I could get the going."
"What robe will you wear?" asked the hen-wife.
"The finest black satin that can be found, and red shoes for my feet."
"What colour do you want the mare to be (какого цвета ты желаешь чтобы была кобыла)?"
"I want her to be so black and so glossy (я хочу, чтобы она была такой черной и такой блестящей; black — черный; вороной /о лошади/) that I can see myself in her body (чтобы я могла видеть в ней свое отражение: «видеть себя в ее теле»)."
"What colour do you want the mare to be?"
"I want her to be so black and so glossy that I can see myself in her body."
