"Don't trouble yourself about the going (не беспокойся о путешествии: «не тревожь себя о продвижении»); I'll take you safely (я довезу тебя невредимым: «безопасно»; to take — брать; to take smb. to a place — отвезти, отвести кого-л. куда-л., в какое-л. место). Sit on my back now (а теперь садись мне на спину), and be sure you're a good rider (и держись крепче: «будь уверен, что ты хороший наездник»), and you'll not be long on the road (и тебе недолго придется провести в пути: «и ты не будешь долго на дороге»; road — дорога; путь). This is my last word (я все сказал: «это мое последнее слово»)."

They went on (они продолжили путь), and were going always (и все время были в движении: «и шли всегда»); and as he traveled (и по дороге: «и пока он путешествовал»), the prince met the wind that was before him (принц встречал = догонял ветер, который был перед ним; to meet /met/), and the wind that blew behind (а ветер, который дул позади; to blow /blew, blown/) could not come up with him (не мог его догнать). When he was hungry (когда он был голоден) the pommel of the saddle opened (лука седла раскрывалась), and he found the best of eating inside (и он находил там внутри наилучшую = вкуснейшую еду; good /better, the best/ — хороший; eating — еда, прием пищи; еда, пища).

"How far are we from the castle (насколько далеко мы находимся от замка)?" asked the king's son (спросил королевский сын).
They went on sweeping over the world for two weeks, and when they were near the East the horse said, "Get down from my back now, for it's tired I am."
"How far are we from the castle?" asked the king's son.
"Five days' journey (в пяти днях пути; journey — поездка, путешествие /преим. сухопутное/)," answered the horse (ответил конь). "When you come to the castle (когда ты придешь к замку), don't stop a moment (не останавливайся ни на мгновение /до тех пор/) till you ask where the young woman is lying (пока ты не спросишь, где лежит молодая девушка); and tell them to be sure to give good stabling and food to the horse (и скажи им, чтобы они не забыли дать хорошее стойло и корм коню; sure — уверенный; обязательный, непременный; food — пища, еда; корм /животных/). Come and see me yourself every day (самолично приходи навещать меня каждый день; to see — видеть). If you don't (если ты не /будешь приходить/), there will be nothing for me but fasting (не будет для меня ничего, кроме поста = придется мне тогда поститься); and that's what I don't like (а это то, что мне не нравится = а я этого не выношу)."

"When you come to the castle, don't stop a moment till you ask where the young woman is lying; and tell them to be sure to give good stabling and food to the horse. When the king's son came to the castle (когда королевский сын пришел к замку) it was evening (был вечер). The two younger sisters welcomed him (две младшие сестры радушно приняли его). (These were two of the swans at the lake in Erin (это были те две лебедушки у озера в Ирландии), and now at home by the enchantment of their stepmother (/которые/ теперь /были/ дома благодаря колдовству их мачехи; enchantment).
