"Don't be afraid (не бойся: «не будь испуганной»)," said the giant; "this one (этот /человек/), whoever he is (кто бы он ни был), will not kill me (не убьет меня), for there is no man in the world (потому что никто на свете: «потому что нет человека в мире») that can kill me (не может меня убить: «который может убить меня»)." Then the giant went to bed (затем великан пошел спать: «в постель»), and was well in the morning (и поутру /он/ был уже здоров: «был здоровым утром»).

Next day the giant and the boy began in the middle of the forenoon (на следующий день утром великан и юноша начали /поединок/: «в середине времени до полудня»; forenoon — время до полудня, утро; noon — полдень), and fought till the middle of the afternoon (и бились до середины дня: «до середины времени после полудня»; to fight /fought/; afternoon — время после полудня). The giant was covered with wounds (великан был /весь/ покрыт ранами), and he had not given one blow to the boy (а он /сам/ не нанес ни одного удара юноше), and could not see him (и /так и/ не смог увидеть его), for he was always in his cloak of darkness (так как тот все время был в своем плаще-невидимке: «всегда был в плаще темноты»). So the giant had to ask for rest till next morning (поэтому великану пришлось просить о передышке до следующего утра; to have to do smth. — быть должным, обязанным, вынужденным делать что-л.; to ask — спрашивать; просить; rest — покой, отдых; to rest — покоиться, лежать, отдыхать).
Next day the giant and the boy began in the middle of the forenoon, and fought till the middle of the afternoon. The giant was covered with wounds, and he had not given one blow to the boy, and could not see him, for he was always in his cloak of darkness. So the giant had to ask for rest till next morning.
While the young woman was washing and dressing the wounds of the giant (пока молодая женщина промывала и перевязывала раны великана; dress — платье, одежда; to dress — одевать, наряжать; перевязывать /рану/) she cried and lamented all the time (она плакала и горевала все время), saying (приговаривая), "What'll become of me now (что со мной теперь будет: «что станет со мной теперь»)? I'm afraid (я боюсь) you'll be killed this time (что тебя убьют на этот раз; time — время; раз, случай); and how can I live here without you (а как я могу жить здесь без тебя)?"
While the young woman was washing and dressing the wounds of the giant she cried and lamented all the time, saying, "What'll become of me now? I'm afraid you'll be killed this time; and how can I live here without you?"
"Have no fear for me (не бойся за меня: «не имей страха за меня»)," said the giant; "I'll put your mind at rest (я тебя успокою: «я приведу твой ум в /состояние/ покоя»; to put /put/ — класть, положить; приводить /в определенное положение или состояние/; rest — отдых, сон; покой). In the bottom of the sea is a chest (на дне моря есть сундук; bottom — низ, нижняя часть; дно /моря, реки и т.п./) locked and bound (окованный и запертый на замок: «запертый и перевязанный»; to lock — запирать на замок; to bind /bound/ — вязать, связывать), in that chest is a duck (в том сундуке есть утка), in the duck an egg (в утке — яйцо); and I never can be killed (и меня вообще невозможно убить: «и я вовсе не могу быть убит»; never — никогда; /эмоц.-усил./ нисколько, никоим образом) unless some one gets the egg (до тех пор, пока кто-нибудь не добудет то яйцо) from the duck in the chest at the bottom of the sea (из утки, что в сундуке на дне моря), and rubs it on the mole (и /не/ потрет им родинку: «/не/ потрет его по родинке») that is under my right breast (под моей правой грудью)."

So off he hurried to the seashore (так что он поспешил прочь /из замка/ к берегу моря), which was not far away (который был неподалеку).
While the giant was telling this to the woman to put her mind at rest, who should be listening to the story but the boy in the cloak of darkness. The minute he heard of the chest in the sea, he thought of the salmons. So off he hurried to the seashore, which was not far away.
Then he took out the fin (тогда он вытащил плавник) that his eldest sister's husband had given him (который дал ему муж его старшей сестры; eldest — самый старший), and called on what salmons were in the sea (и призвал /всех/ лососей, которые были в море; to call — кричать; to call on smb. — призывать, взывать, обращаться) to bring up the chest with the duck inside (принести наверх = поднять сундук с уткой внутри), and put it out on the beach before him (и выставить его на берегу перед ним).
Then he took out the fin that his eldest sister's husband had given him, and called on what salmons were in the sea to bring up the chest with the duck inside, and put it out on the beach before him.
